With the China Olympics just one year away, broadcasters throughout southeast Asia are gearing for the transition to HD while seeking to retain SD compatibility.
"The show attracted very good quality visitors with a serious interest in upgrading their first-phase HD investment to get the best possible quality and flexibility out of their systems," commented Eyeheight Managing Director Martin Moore. "HD is less forgiving than SD, particularly in terms of signal legalisation. With television audiences increasingly viewing SD and well as HD on large display screens, broadcasters are becoming ever more quality-conscious.
"Particularly strong interest was expressed in our range of small-footprint production switchers. These are designed for use wherever space is at a premium, such as in mobile production vehicles, graphics areas and post-production suites. Our new 'playout compact' master control switcher attracted strong interest for the same reason. It is constructed around a flexible A/B switcher with four-group 16 channel audio facilities. Additional chassis can be connected easily if required. TCP/IP Ethernet control is a standard feature, allowing remote set-up or logo-forwarding.
"Our legalHHPi high-definition legaliser also proved a crowd-puller. It offers post-production staff an easy solution to the problem of overload transients generated when creating HD titles. The resultant ringing caused by uncorrected illegal signals looks really bad and can even make a title unreadable."
