Eyeheight highlights growing interest in HD

Rapidly growing interest in HDTV and multi-format HD/SD has been reported from IBC2004 by Eyeheight.
Production companies, postproduction facilities and broadcasters worldwide are increasingly gearing for the 1080i origination and transmission standard. 1080i is already in widespread use in Asia and the USA and the first European service, HD1 (renamed from Euro1080i), began early this year. Eyeheight exhibited four new additions to its range of cost-efficient 1080i-compatible HD production equipment.
legalEyesHD is a high-quality HDTV legaliser with full 10 bit processing, independent 'Legalise' and 'Indicate Processing' outputs, adjustable soft and hard clipping levels and adjustable luma and chroma gain and black level.
irisHD is a versatile HD-SDI vision mixer with up to eight inputs and downstream-keyers. Features include full 10-bit mixing with programmable mix times and automatic or manual transitions. irisHD incorporates an input synchroniser and an internal wipe generator providing all commonly used wipe patterns.
vistaHD is an ultra-compact A/B vision switcher at one third the price of comparable existing designs. vistaHD supports 24, 25 and 30 Hz frame rates (interlaced, progressive scan and split-frame) to SMPTE-272 specification. This includes 1080i/50, 1080i/60, 1080i/59.94, 1080p/24 and 1080p/23.98 standards. Up to four systems can be housed in 1U.
safeEyesHD provides guide markers for all common television and film formats. Safe-action and safe-caption areas are clearly shown by the use of cursor lines, user-selectable shading or black areas. SDI graticule markers are also provided for those not transmitting in HD.
Designed for standard-definition applications, Eyeheight's new modular master control system, playout, made its IBC debut. playout is a major evolution from the presTX range of video and audio switching equipment family. Fully scalable, playout comprises seven building-blocks: base configuration unit, mix/wipe module, keyer, audio/voice-over module, internal cross-point, logo-store and DVE. Configurable from an automated A/B mixer up to a multi-channel master control system with manual over-ride, all Eyeheight equipment is based on a standard modular networking platform for easy interfacing to other products in the range and to external automation systems.
