'Straight 8' Uncut At Cannes Lions Premiere

'Straight 8' offers a filmmaking experience like no other...
Filmmakers are asked to make a film with one cartridge of super 8mm and no editing and then the first time anyone sees their film is at a packed public screening. This year straight 8 received an outstanding 131 entries from all around the world.
straight 8 has screened for five consecutive years at the Cannes Film Festival and this year is screening at Cannes Lions for the first time in collaboration with Rushes and the APA and with support from Kodak. Cannes Lions is a perfect setting, advertising production is a core part of straight 8's 'DNA' with the original entrants being directors, producers, dop's, editors, actors, runners, etc all working in commercials.
The Cannes Lions premiere of 24 films will take place in Cannes on Friday 22 June 2007, between 12.00pm and 2.00pm, at the Star Cinema, 98 Rue d’Antibes, Cannes.
The films being screened are some of the best, selected by straight 8 from the 131 entries and most of the filmmakers will be in Cannes to watch their movies. The films will be projected from the original spools. A last minute late entry will also be shown, sponsored by Framepool.
Seats for this event are strictly limited and must be purchased in advance. A minimum donation of £10 per ticket is asked, with all proceeds going to the Fireflies charity ‘Leuka’, helping suffers of Leukaemia.
