Galway Film Fleadh To Showcase Filmmaking Home And Abroad

2007 is shaping up to be another busy year for the Galway Film Fleadh, as it celebrates 19 years of screening the very best in new and classic Irish and World Cinema. Following on from the great success of last year’s event, this year’s programme looks set to continue in its strong tradition of showcasing the finest emerging and established filmmaking talent from both at home and abroad.
This year, budding screenwriters can look forward to the return of the hugely successful Stella Artois Pitching Awards. The unique format of this competition aims to bridge the gap that exists between the writer of a script and the audience for which it is intended. The Galway Film Fleadh, in conjunction with Stella Artois, endeavours to reduce this gulf to a more manageable, human scale.
Stephanie Wong, Senior Brand Manager, from Stella Artois said: "Having enjoyed a long and successful association with the film genre Stella Artois is proud to continue its association with this award, providing assistance to future film makers as they work to progress their creative ideas into an engaging film."
Screenwriters are invited to submit a one-page story idea for the screen, from which five successful writers will be selected to make their pitch in person. The chosen projects will be presented before a panel of industry experts and a public audience. The best pitch will receive an award sponsored by Stella Artois, worth €5,000, which will be presented during the Awards Ceremony at the Town Hall Theatre.
The Galway Film Fleadh is delighted to continue with this exciting and innovative event for 2007.
The closing date for submissions is 15 June.
