Filmmakers Vie For Stella Artois Film Awards

Thousands of filmmakers world-wide have submitted entries to the Stella Artois Film Awards competition at the Seagate Foyle Film Festival.
Organisers say that these have been painstakingly whittled down to a select few which will be screened before the Jury throughout the Festival.
Once again the entries have been awe-inspiring in their quality, diversity, cinematography and subject matter. They will make you laugh, you may cry, but the final selection will certainly, above all, entertain audiences of all tastes at The Strand Multiplex, Derry.
Filmmakers are vying to be recipients of the Stella Artois Film Award competition categories: Best Irish Short, Best International Short, Best Documentary, Best Animation and Best Short Feature.
Delighted with the range of films from across the globe in this year’s competition, Kathryn Darby, Stella Artois, said: “As a global brand that is known for its commitment to quality film we're delighted to be involved in a competition with such a prestigious status.
"Foyle is the only Film Festival within the UK and Ireland, bar London, that can offer winners of its Short film and Animation categories automatic qualification to be considered for an Academy Award. Each year I look forward to seeing which talented individuals come out on top of our categories and I enjoy hearing about future Award successes following their showcase at Foyle.”
Competitors for the Stella Artois Best Animation award screened at The Strand Multiplex on Saturday 11th November.
The selection for the Stella Artois Best International Short will be shown at 7pm every evening from Saturday 11th November to Friday 17th November in Screen 7 at The Strand Multiplex.
Saturday 18th November will unveil the contenders for the title of the Stella Artois Best Irish Short. These will also screen at The Strand Multiplex at 12noon, 2pm and 5pm in Screen 7.
The Stella Artois Best Documentary and Best Short Feature entries are peppered throughout the programme, screening at The Nerve Centre.
The Festival Jury will announce the winners of this year’s Stella Artois Film Awards at a special event on Sunday 19th November 2006.
Tickets are currently available to purchase at The Nerve Centre and a half-hour before the screening times at The Strand Multiplex.
