BBC Director to open AIB Global Media Business 2003
Mark Byford, the Director of the BBC’s World Service and Global News division, is to give the opening keynote address at the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) Global Media Business Conference in London in April.
The annual AIB Global Media Business Conference is dedicated solely to the international broadcasting industry. It is a crucial gathering in the international broadcasting calendar, and brings together players from every sector of the industry.
Simon Spanswick, chief executive of the AIB, said: “The AIB is enormously pleased that Mark Byford is opening our conference.
“Mark’s keynote address will help stimulate and focus the debate over the two days of the event and it is fitting that the world’s leading international broadcaster are playing such an important role."
The AIB Global Media Business conference, running over two days on April 29 and 30, brings together key players in cross-border television and radio, together with the manufacturers and service providers that enable programme-makers to produce and deliver their content to consumers world-wide. Conference delegates are attending from across the world, with advance registrations from domestic, regional and international broadcasters in New Zealand, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, the UK, Australia, North America and Africa.
The conference will debate key issues within the themes of audiences, technology, content and business models, with speakers from a wide range of organisations including Discovery Networks, SES-Astra, Radio Netherlands, Ipsos-RSL, Sony Broadcast, Teletrax, the European Broadcasting Union, German TV, CNN and MTV Networks.
An exhibition that showcases technology and services for international broadcasters will run alongside the conference, offering delegates a chance to see the way in which production, newsgathering and programme delivery is likely to evolve in the future.
