Advent Communications To Showcase Latest Antennas At NAB

Satellite uplink manufacturer Advent Communications is to showcase its latest dual purpose 'Advent Flydrive' antennas and its new half-rack sized electronics, the 5000 series at NAB.
Advent will show its new 'Advent FlyDrive' in two modes - the 1.5m FlyDrive will be mounted as a Driveaway, with its new 5000 electronics fully motorised and working, and the 1.2m FlyDrive antenna will be shown as a flyaway with two IATA-compliant flight cases.
New at NAB this year will be the 5000 series Antenna Controller Unit (ACU), which includes an optional Satfinder upgrade in the same unit, and the Drive Control Unit (DCU) which controls the motors for antenna elevation and azimuth. Advent has also added a new Block UpConverter for Ku band. The units will be shown in the new specially designed by Advent, 5000 series flightcase.
The DVE5000 electronics subsystem offers an encoder for SD and HD with an integrated L-Band modulator and HPA. The Digital Video Exciter (DVE) is software upgradeable for either SD or HD and will support MPEG-4 also in future.
These compact, weatherproof units are all half the size of the typical 19" rack mounted systems and are designed to give exceptional performance with Advent's Mantis Flyaways, NewSwift and FlyDrive Antenna Systems.
The Advent FlyDrive supports X, Ku, DBS and Ka band feeds, as well as C band for the 1.5m. It offers full 3 axis motorised control with manual backup, satellite auto acquisition and tracking.
