Bradford International Film Festival Announces Further Highlights
The 13th Bradford International Film Festival, which takes place on 9-24 March 2007, has announced more elements of its line-up of previews, premieres, guests and special screenings.
Previews and premieres include two explorations of terrorism from different eras - South African apartheid era drama 'Catch a Fire' and 'Infinite Justice', loosely based on the death of Daniel Pearl, which is bound to attract controversy for film-maker Jamil Dehlavi who will be on hand to introduce his movie. Other highlights include Australian thriller 'Jindabyne' and Argentinian shocker 'Rooms for Tourists'.
A new strand for the Festival - Uncharted States of America - brings the radical edge of American independent cinema to the UK, including an ultra rare screening of 'Dangerous Men', which is set to be introduced by the director John S. Rad.
Other confirmed guests with seasons in the Festival include film-makers Terence Davies (Distant Voices, Still Lives), Godfrey Reggio (Naqoyqatsi, Anima Mundi), Patrick Keiller (Robinson in Space), Jamil Dehlavi (Jinnah, Infinite Justice), Denis Dercourt (The Pageturner) and veteran producer Euan Lloyd (Shalako).
Meanwhile, the 3rd Film and Music conference will welcome Bond composer David Arnold and 'The Wicker Man' musical director, Gary Carpenter.
The CineFile strand of documentaries on film includes exclusive screenings of 'Edge of Outside' and 'Directed by John Ford' from TCM, and 'Anger Me' in which Kenneth Anger looks back on his life and career.
Widescreen Weekend returns to make the most of the National Media Museum’s projection capabilities with Burton and Taylor in 'Cleopatra', Omar Sharif in 'Mayerling' while '12 Angry Men' and 'South Pacific' get their UK premieres as digital prints from Pictureville’s latest projector.
