Norman Lockhart Appointed BBC Worldwide Head Of Production

BBC Worldwide has appointed former Endemol and ITV producer Norman Lockhart as head of production.
In his new post Lockhart will oversee the management of all BBC Worldwide's overseas format productions around the world, excluding the US, and part of his job will be to implement the long-held plan to create global production bases in certain territories.
In markets where BBC Worldwide has no plans for local production arms, Lockhart will instead manage the relationship with local production partners, reporting to Colin Jarvis, Director of international formats.
Jarvis commented: "The appointment will help BBC Worldwide become a major international player in the format production arena.
"This step change will create a greater return for intellectual property that benefits both the BBC and the independent production community."
Lockhart will be responsible for working on titles from the BBC and formats from the independent production community that BBC Worldwide represents. The current London-based production team will report to him.
Lockhart who joins BBC Worldwide in early 2007 is enthusiastic about starting his new role: "International formats are of increasing importance to broadcasters at the moment and it's fantastic to be working in an area in which so many international operators are looking to have a presence."
