Media NI Announce December Dates For Documentary Workshop
MEDIA NI has announced its next intensive professional workshop will take place from December 4-5, 2006.
The workshop DocSales, held in partnership with the NIFTC, will focus on the work of international documentary sales agencies and include advisory sessions from the world’s top agents on what makes a documentary travel.
This is an extremely rare opportunity for the local factual sector to meet, on home turf, some of the most powerful sales agents in the international factual film and television industry.
The workshop will be moderated and led by Tue Steen Muller, former director of the European Documentary Network (EDN) based at the Danish Film Institute. His guest speakers will include Montreal and Amsterdam based Films Transit chief Jan Rofekamp – The Corporation; Shake Hands with the Devil; Metallica: Some Kind of Monster and Belfast Girls to name just a few representative titles. Heino Deckert of Deckert Distribution will present a screening of a case study project on the evening of December 4 followed, the next day, by a breakdown examination of its development for the international market.
Films represented by Deckert Distribution have included the award-winning productions of 3 Rooms of Melancholia and North Korea: A Day in the Life. The final guest speaker of the day will be Kim Christiansen - Head of Sales at one of Europe’s largest broadcasters and, very often, a co-producer with the BBC; TV2 in Denmark.
Places at this workshop are strictly limited and preference must be given to factual producers.
Should you be interested in attending the workshop, please contact Cian Smyth, MEDIA Service NI, at the NIFTC: media
