Metropolis produce definitive video history of Skint Records

Metropolis DVD have just delivered Skint Recordings’ first DVD compilation, 'We Are Skint', comprising 23 highly respected music videos and a "good pinch" of the label’s character.
The renowned Brighton-based label is home to Fatboy Slim, Lo Fidelity Allstars, Req, Bentley Rythm Ace, X-Press 2 and Cut La Roc.
The DVD, produced for retail distribution, is Metropolis’ first compilation project for an independent label, following work for the likes of Sony and Universal Music. As well as including music videos from directors such as Hammer & Tongs, Jordan Scott at Black Dog, Dawn Shadforth, Ashley Slater and Howard Shur, the DVD also gives great insights into the personalities of Skint’s artists.
Metropolis Producer, Alex Sanders, said: "Skint are a label who know exactly what they want and their DVD looks fantastic, it was a pleasure working with them."
Head of new business, Mike Gillespie, added: “DVD compilations are going to be a major source of revenue for repertoire owners in the future. Skint are one of a very few labels who not only have strength in brand identity, but also in an extensive collection of legendary music videos within a particular genre”
DVD extras include a film about Req, a noted graffiti, as well as recording artist, and a collection of Damian Harris’home videos, including a mini-documentary about Skint’s beloved Brighton & Hove Albion FC.
Metropolis extended the deconstructed graphical styling of the clear jewel packaging and hidden inlays, with a DVD interface based on the inside of a television.
The relationship was praised by the label’s MD Damian Harris: “Metropolis were a joy to work with, the team understood our way of working and how we wanted everything to look and then took it out into DVD world."
Metropolis DVD are central to the circle of services on offer at Metropolis Group’s Power House Studios in West London.
