BFI Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Exhibition Of Six Feature Films
Six major feature films, supported with Lottery funds from the UK Film Council, have been selected for this year’s Times BFI London Film Festival, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2006.
The films are Roger Michell’s Venus and Penny Woolcock’s 'Mischief Night', both backed by the UK Film Council’s Premiere Fund, Andrea Arnold’s Cannes 2006 Jury Award winner 'Red Road', and Shane Meadows’ Toronto hit 'This is England', both supported by the UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund, and Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation, backed by the UK Film Council’s Development Fund. Meanwhile the UK Film Council affiliated project 'The Last King of Scotland' has been selected to open the festival on October 18.
Five short films from Blank Slate Films, backed by the UK Film Council, have also been selected for screenings. These are Maninderpal Sahota’s Best Mates, Hammad Khan’s Explosions, Juliet Ellis’ Br09, Farah Abushwesha’s Chicken Soup, and Jesse Lawrence’s Mash Up.

- 'The Last King of Scotland' directed will screen Wednesday October 18 and Saturday October 21
