BBC celebrate RTS success

BBC Outside Broadcasts and BBC Post Production have won six awards including the prestigious Judges Award at The Royal Television Society Craft and Design Awards.
BBC Outside Broadcasts were given the coveted Judges Award for “an outstanding year of event coverage”. The jury highlighted OB’s work on The Queen Mother’s Funeral, The Golden Jubilee and The Proms, acknowledging that: “coverage of these massive events looks flawless, but all of us knows that it is probably the most challenging and riskiest form of television possible.”
BBC Outside Broadcasts camera and sound teams both won awards for their Golden Jubilee celebrations coverage. The jury praised the multi-camera work as “a visual tour de force with wonderfully executed crane shots and live coverage of the highest quality.” In addition, they judges enthused about the sound work, describing it as: “A great technical achievement all round considering such diverse content from so many different locations and venues, and all live.”
BBC Post Production won the Award for Tape and Film Editing category for work on the hugely successful Blue Planet. In addition, BBC Post Production won the Design and Craft Innovation and Picture Enhancement Award for work on the critically-acclaimed Weird Nature.
