Welsh companies step up to IBC challenge

Two Welsh companies TVonics and Technium Digital@Sony are participating under the UK Group umbrella at this year's IBC.
TVonics designs and manufactures digital set top boxes and digital video recorders for the UK and European markets.
On show will be the new DVR-300 Twin Tuner Digital TV Recorder, which supports the popular Freeview service in the UK. The recorder allows television viewers to watch one Freeview channel, while recording another channel onto an internal 320GByte hard disk drive, proving storage in excess of 150 hours without loss of quality.
Welsh-based company Technium Digital@Sony, an incubation environment which assists young technology companies in transforming ideas into commercial reality. This includes a full range of “design for manufacture” services, including component design and sourcing, emissions testing, component testing and measuring, and product manufacturing. The site also offers environmental testing facilities, anechoic chambers, clean rooms, advanced manufacturing equipment and logistics support.
Coull is a technology company that enables brands to bring together video, still images and text interactively to drive revenue from online activities and communities.
At IBC the company will preview Coullinteract, a simple-to-use application which enables content owners and creators to add tags and hyperlinks to objects embedded within the video. According to the company, it is the first “free to create” tool of its kind.
