Censorship under spotlight at QFT workshop

The legal case surrounding the censorship of classic film 'The Tin Drum' is one of the issues which will be examined in a workshop by Director Gary D. Rhodes on Friday 18th August, as part of the 'Frame by Frame with Stella Artois' season at Queen's Film Theatre.
Rhodes will examine various case studies from the earliest days of the cinema to the present. The event will feature extracts from Rhodes' documentary film 'Banned in Oklahoma', which details the 1997 case when an Oklahoma judge, prompted by a Christian watchdog group accused The Tin Drum of being child pornography.
Rhodes commented: "It is vital that emerging film-makers consider censorship issues when creating their work. It can often be quite a balancing act to capture something innovative and credible enough to make a mark in today's crowded film industry whilst staying within the realms of the industry's regulations."
QFT has a limited number of places available for emerging film makers to participate in the Frame by Frame with Stella Artois workshops.
If you are an emerging film-maker, aged over 18 years, and would like to register for the History and Impact of Film Censorship workshop with Gary D. Rhodes, please contact Jennie McGivern to register in advance - J Mcgivern
