Digital Communities broadcast conference set for Watershed in Bristol
Bristol’s Watershed Media Centre is the venue for this one day conference on Digital Communities, looking at the new shape of media and communication.
The event will explore the questions: How are new types of communities shaping and informing the development of media and communication? How far have we moved from the world of single broadcast to a mass audience?
Designed for media professionals, the event will explore the implications and opportunities of interactive media and emerging technologies, from citizen media and multi-player gaming to web 2.0 and local TV.
A national event produced by Broadcast and Watershed, Digital Communities brings together producers, distributors and commissioners to take stock of the fast changing, increasingly on-demand world of content. Speakers include Steve Hewlett – Tiger Aspect, Paul Appleby – BBC Natural History Unit, Sean Clarke – Aardman Animation, Dave Rushton – Institute of Local TV, Alfie Dennen –moblogUK and Hugh Hancock – Strange Company.
Supported by South West Screen and South West Regional Development Agency. There are subsidies available for companies wanting to attend the conference from the South West.
The event takes place on Thursday 29 June, 2006, Watershed, 10 – 6pm, £99, Booking: 0117 927 5100, www.watershed.co.uk/digital_communities.
