Axis Films showcase 4:4:4 workflow

Axis Films, in collaboration with Rouge Element Films. staged an innovative workshop in May at Shepperton Studios, London.
A complete high definition production capability was demonstrated to an invited group of high-profile DOPs.
Image capture was achieved with a Thomson Grass Valley Viper FilmStream camera and Zeiss Digiprime HD lenses provided by Rogue Element Films. In addition to recording directly to the Sony SRW-1 portable recorder, which gives virtually lossless high definition recordings a direct dual link solution, was also shown utilising the company's Quantel eQ HDRGB system.
Images captured directly on to the eQ system were compared in the preview theatre using a JVC DLA-HD2K projector.
"The ability to record directly from the Viper camera head onto our flight cased, dual link capable eQ HDRGB editing system on stage here at Shepperton is an exciting solution for a commercial shoot or feature, it provides them with pristine quality and gives them a direct data workflow solution both in offline and online," commented Ralston Humble, Editor at Axis Post.
All equipment shown is available for hire through Axis.
Paul Carter, Managing Director at Axis Films, concluded: "What we have shown here is a workflow that is very exciting, time effective and commercially viable. I look forward to seeing many of our clients use this process."
