ONDIGITAL LAUNCH ONNET SERVICE

ONNET, ONdigital’s television based Internet service was officially launched on Tuesday, September 19, with 47 brand names on their portal page.
Requiring no PC, ONnet needs only a small net box connected to an ONdigital box and a TV. The box, cordless keyboard and connections are provided free for as long as the subscription is maintained.
ONnet also incorporates a portal for safe and easy use of on-line services. ONnet have already gained 22 portal partners and another 16 are lined up to join the service.
The portal’s TV guide section contains links to the websites of BBC News and Weather, ITN News, ONsport and Simply Money. Links to the websites of Granada Breeze, Granada Men and Motors, MTV and TV Travel Shop are to follow.
The entertainment section is expected to include sites from ‘asSeenOnScreen’ and ‘Popcorn’. The Knowledge section will be the first link to BBC Education. The ONhelp section will provide help to ONnet subscribers as well as providing a direct link to a website, from which customers can order a range of Canon printers to attach to their ONnet boxes.
