HTV VOLUNTEERS LEND A HAND

A TEAM of volunteers from HTV are helping to transform and renovate a counselling room at the Abbey Road Centre in Bangor on September 22.
As part of the ITV Year of Promise, HTV Wales are running a campaign aimed at informing people about drug prevention. The projects in Swansea, Abergavenny and Bangor form part of the campaign. The projects are aimed at helping to clean up areas that are badly affected by drug abuse, or to assist with the creation of special areas for use by those in need of help.
Reporter, Rob Shelley from HTV’s Colwyn Bay Office and a team of volunteers will work on the makeover in Abbey Road which is being led by designer Stuart Hulse from HTV’s ‘House to House’.
The Abbey Road Centre is a multi purpose community facility in Bangor and is used by drug and alcohol agency, Cais, as well as other charities such as Cruise Bereavement Care, Samaritans, Relate, North West Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Helpline.
In Swansea, HTV staff joined volunteers to help the locally based Domino Project develop their garden in Mumbles where the people they help can go and relax.
Also in Albergavenny, the HTV team have worked with the people running the Abergavenny Community House which is used as a place for youngsters to socialise.
