‘Last of the Summer Wine’ uses Viper Filmstream

‘Last of the Summer Wine’ will be the first UK TV show to utilise the Viper Filmstream Digital Film Camera.
This is a major leap forward for television programming and represents a considerable step forward in terms of capture and delivery.
Using HDCAM SR stock, the production hopes to prove that SR tape workflow is not only viable, but very affordable.
Production costs are roughly the same as film but with the added benefits of instant rushes and review, no processing costs and instant dailies.
This decision was taken on the basis of the obvious imaging improvements offered by the Viper Filmstream capture mode, giving, if required, full 444 colour space capture in its unique raw/log capture mode. This bypasses the colour correction processing within the camera and produces increased exposure latitude as a result.
The kit is being supplied by Rogue Element Films, who are providing the Viper Filmstream camera plus Sony's SRW-1 HDCAM SR field recorder and lenses being the Zeiss DigiPrimes.
