BBC DENY 10 O'CLOCK NEWS ANCHOR CHANGE

THE BBC have refuted claims that they intend to approach Sir Trevor McDonald with the view to anchor the new Ten O’clock News on BBC.
A BBC spokesperson said: “This is a rumour that comes up from time to time. Sir Trevor McDonald and Greg Dyke are old friends and they have recently had lunch together, I imagine that this rumour began after someone seen them together having lunch. There is however, no truth in it at all.”
Reports in the Mirror yesterday stated that McDonald, who earns £1 million a year at ITN, had been approached by BBC Chiefs who were considering offering McDonald a 50 per cent rise to switch channels as his current contract expires next year.
However, this was strongly denied by the BBC who refuted widespread reports of plans to offer McDonald a lucrative deal amounting to £1.5 million a year.
The BBC confirmed that Michael Buerk and Peter Sissons would continue to anchor the news bulletins on alternative nights.
