NI film wins Spanish Oscar

Isabel Coixet's ‘The Secret Life Of Words’ was the big winner at the 20th anniversary edition of the Spanish Film Academy's Goya Awards, taking home four statues including best film, director and script.
The film was made entirely in Northern Ireland and famously used an oil rig in the Harland and Wolf shipyard.
Brendan Byrne and Colin McKeown of Hot Shot Films were co-producers on the film, which was made by the celebrated Pedro Almodovar's El Deseo production company.
Providing the star wattage at Sunday night's ceremony, Antonio Banderas presented the best film award to co-producers Agustin Almodovar of El Deseo, Jaume Roures of MediaPro and production designer Esther Garcia, who won the film's fourth award of the night. The English-language Secret Life stars Sarah Polley and Tim Robbins in the tale of two wounded souls who find comfort in each other's company on an isolated oil rig.
The Secret Life of Words also screened in the prestigious Venice Film Festival in 2005 and last week in the Sundance Film Festival in North America, which was founded by screen legend Robert Redford.
