TMR boosts technical capabilities
TMR, part of the VTR Group, has boosted its technical capabilities with significant investment into its telecine department.
The facility has replaced its Thomson Shadow telecine with a Thomson Spirit Datacine, installation of which took place this month. TMR will use the machine to transfer film to standard and high-definition formats. The move enables TMR to grade footage at a higher resolution than previously possible, from Super 8mm through to 35mm.
In addition, the facility has upgraded its Ursa suite, replacing the DCP with a full PiXi grading system.
“I’m delighted with the new system,” said Gerry Gedge, Head of Telecine, TMR. “The Spirit is a well-recognised and established piece of kit and we’re already seeing interest from existing clients and prospects. Both the installation of the system, along with the Pogle upgrade give our operators increased flexibility. We’re all excited about reaping the benefits.”
“The post-production industry is moving towards a datacentric model and it’s vital that our technology reflects that,” said Wendy Saunders, MD, TMR.
“The Spirit will perfectly compliment TMR’s existing TK suites and give us greater capability for HD work, where we’re seeing an increased demand - not only at TMR - but across the VTR Group.”
