New Controller of BBC Three appointed

BBC Director of Television Jana Bennett has appointed E4 head Julian Bellamy as the new Controller of BBC Three.
Bellamy, 35, who is also Head of Channel 4's Factual Entertainment commissioning, will join the BBC in the New Year.
Jana Bennett said: "I'm delighted Julian will be joining us in BBC Television.
"He has fantastic experience of building channels and brands in a multi-platform digital environment, a very strong creative background and terrific relations with talent and the production community.
"His dual experience as both a commissioning editor of factual entertainment and innovative shows like ‘Big Brother’ - and of running a mixed genre channel - will bring a new dynamic to BBC Three as it evolves, grows and meets ever-changing audience expectations."
Julian Bellamy said: "The BBC is new territory for me and I admire what BBC Three has achieved with new talent and comedy.
"I'm really looking forward to working with Jana to take BBC Three to a new level for audiences and exploring new ideas that will ensure the channel continues to innovate, develop and create real excitement."
Bellamy has been Head of Factual Entertainment at Channel 4 since February 2003 and took over E4 at the start of this year working with commissioning, marketing, scheduling and acquisitions.
He started his TV career producing and directing documentaries for both ‘Dispatches’ and ITV's ‘The Big Story’ strands before becoming Editor of Current Affairs for Channel 4, which included commissioning ‘The Mark Thomas Comedy Product’.
He was Commissioning Editor for Big Brother from 2001, giving creative direction to BB on all platforms working with a team of Channel 4 editors.
Bellamy was also responsible for commissioning Channel 4 factual programmes from the nations and regions, such as the award-winning strand ‘Football Stories’, and for representing independent production companies from outside of London within the broadcaster.
