Globalstor’s HD DI solution showcased at SMPTE

Globalstor Data Corporation’s ExtremeStor-DI PRO is being showcased in the PNY Technologies booth (#282-283) during the SMPTE 2005 tradeshow and exhibition currently being held at the Hilton Hotel, New York.
Featuring a Bluefish444 HD|Lust capture card to ensure the highest 10 bit uncompressed video quality, the ExtremeStor-DI PRO is designed to offer professional colourists and postproduction facilities a complete Digital Intermediate (DI) solution for a broad range of applications including: 2K editing, color correction, scratch removal, visual effects, capture playback, and more.
A complete Digital Intermediate solution, ExtremeStor-DI PRO provides up to 900MB/sec. sustained performance using 16 Ultra320 drives Running RAID 0, and offers scaleable capacities up to 4.8TB (using 300 GB drives). Integrating the latest NVIDIA PCI Express Professional Graphics card, the standard version of the ExtremeStor-DI PRO features Dual Gigabit Ethernet, 3 GB DDR2 RAM, Bluefish444 HD LUST card, Windows XP, Optional Fire Wire 800 and Optional Fibre Channel interfaces on a Dual Xeon server.
For truly demanding environments, Dual Core AMD Opteron configurations are also available.
The featured Bluefish444 HD|Lust card offers a rare ability to capture uncompressed HD directly to the industry trusted Cineon file standard; allowing users to retain all of the original film information during the Digital Intermediate processes. The card offers a 10 bit uncompressed Dual Link and Single Link multi format I\O solution, supporting real time input and output of full band width uncompressed SDTV and HDTV video in 10 bit and 8 bit RGB 4:4:4, 10 bit and 8 bit YUV 4:2:2, 8 bit RGB 4:4:4:4 data streams. Bluefish444 HD|Lust also offers 8 channels of AES/EBU/SPDIF digital audio and real time broadcast quality HD to SD down conversion.
Paired with IRIDAS SpeedGrade DI and the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 by PNY Technologies, ExtremeStor-DI is a fault-tolerant high definition DI solution providing real-time playback at HD and 2K resolutions as well as offering a complete colour pipeline connecting the filmmaking process from production through postproduction and DI.
Bundled with Windows XP pro, this DI solution can alternatively be configured with either Windows 2003 or Linux. Featuring dual Intel Xeon processors with 2GB of RAM, ExtremeStor-DI writes at a sustained data rate in excess of 350 MB/Sec and plays back/reads in excess of 1000 MB/Sec. under RAID 5. The result is a powerful, integrated, streamlined DI workflow environment that enables increased productivity and even greater control at the final stages of film production.
