Global 'progress' campaign continues for Johnnie Walker
Johnnie Walker continues its global campaign theme of ‘personal progress’ and has launched the latest in a series of innovative films promoting the world’s best selling Scotch whisky brand.
‘Painting’, the latest pioneering commercial in Johnnie Walker’s ‘Keep Walking’ campaign, was produced by multi award winning studio Aardman Animations.
This campaign celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of its founder John Walker. Last year saw Johnnie Walker sales reach their highest level in the brand’s 187-year history and the new film will play a key role in driving further growth.
For the first time some of the world’s most famous paintings have been brought to life through animation. Through a combination of painstaking traditional animation and groundbreaking computer graphics, they become the background to an epic personal journey. Each piece of art is combined with real-time action and our protagonist adventures through history and comes tumbling into the present.
‘Painting’ presents an inspiring tale of personal progress. In this instance, a dramatic demonstration of how an individual can change his destiny, by leaping beyond the boundaries prescribed for him. What follows is a helter-skelter adventure through memorable and celebrated images in the history of art.
Johnnie Walker’s Marketing Director Peter Dee said: “The ‘Keep Walking’ campaign is intended to bring alive those values we all need to progress in our lives.”
“We all know that making ‘progress’ in our personal lives can be a serious pursuit, but it can also be enjoyable too. So in 'Painting', our latest film , we wanted to deliver our progress message with a lighter touch and some humour.”
The teams on the project included Justin Moore and Steve Robertson of BBH along with co-directors Pat Gavin and Bobby Proctor of Aardman Animations.
