BSkyB shares fall as subscriber figures disappoint investors

BSkyB shares fell back 39p to 488p today, as the satellite TV leader reported disappointing figures in its quarterly report.
With only 57,000 new customers added in the three months July – September, the lowest quarterly figure since Sky became a digital-only service in 2001.
BSkyB blamed the increased subscriber churn figures and prevailing economic conditions.
However BSkyB, with 7,844,000 subscribers, believe that they are still on course to achieve their target of 8,000,000 by the end of this year as the Autumn-Christmas period traditionally sees a large increase in new subscribers.
