Mosaic Films capture The Tube under attack

Award-winning indie Mosaic Films have been commissioned by ITV London to make The Tube Under Attack, 2 x 30 minute special episodes of The Tube, using exclusive footage shot during the 7 July terrorist attacks, the aftermath, and the failed 21 July attacks on London’s Underground.
The two-part special heralds the start of the third of the RTS Award-winning documentary series (6 x 30mins), and will be shown on ITV London and Sky Travel in November.
Colin Luke, Series Producer, Mosaic Films said: “In the days following the attacks, London Underground received dozens of television proposals to film the aftermath, but Mosaic’s cameras were the only ones given unprecedented access to the tube network and its staff. It is testament to the strong relationships we have nurtured over the years with the LU during the making of The Tube that we were chosen to tell their moving stories.”
Mosaic’s cameras were already filming at Hammersmith station for The Tube when news came of the first explosion. The team was allowed to continue filming as the whole tube network was shut down and thousands of bewildered passengers were evacuated. The crew quickly mobilised to the bomb scene at Edgware Road station to document the moments after the devastating attacks.
In the first of the two films, the programme tells the moving first-hand accounts of the LU staff, emergency workers, train drivers and controllers who witnessed the harrowing scenes of carnage and courageously guided surviving passengers to safety and medical help.
With a unique degree of access, the second film follows LU’s determined efforts to get the network back up and running. The Mosaic crew was on hand to witness the unfolding events and poignant human stories that followed in the weeks after the attacks, including the destabilizing effects of the failed bomb attacks on 21 July.
