CHRYSALIS ANNOUNCE 50.1 PER CENT STAKE IN ECLIPSE

CHRYSALIS, one of the UK’s leading independent TV production groups, have announced the acquisition of a 50.1 per cent stake in Dublin based production company Eclipse Television and Video.
Managing Director of Eclipse, David Harvey, also presents Eclipse’s ‘Crimeline’ for Irish broadcasters RTE. Eclipse’s current productions include ‘The Weakest Link’ for Ireland’s TV3 and ‘Obsession’ for RTE.
Chrysalis have also increased their earnings by 69 per cent to £2.49 million in the six months ended February 28 2001.
The improved performance follows the re-structuring of the division to consolidate the eight individual UK production companies into three centres of excellence, focused around three key areas – Sport, Drama and Entertainment. The new structure has led to greater focus of the development, more centralised control of budgets and an improved margin for the period.
Through their 50.1 per cent stake in Amsterdam based CVI Media Group Chrysalis have interests in ID&Dtv in the Netherlands, Iman-Idtv in Spain, Idtv in Portugal and Idtv Belgium.
Chrysalis also have a 33 per cent stake in south Pacific Pictures, New Zealand’s biggest independent producers. (CD)
