The Baby Channel launches with Advanced Broadcast Services

Advanced Broadcast Services, one of the UK's leading full-service providers of playout, transmission and broadcast resources, has won the contract for the playout for The Baby Channel.
Leon Hawthorne, Chief Executive of The Baby Channel, spoke to several transmission providers and chose Advanced Broadcast Services because they really understood the special needs of a start up channel and offered the most flexible package.
He said: "The package they designed for us is so flexible that it allows us to add or subtract services. Not many playout companies can offer this degree of flexibility.
"Advanced Broadcast Services is also streets ahead in its ability to ingest content. We will be able to deliver content as digital computer files which we FTP to a central server rather than biking tapes across the city. Many other providers saw this as an extra‚ service instead of seeing it as a way of keeping their costs down and thus improving the workflow and providing a better service to clients."
The Channel will launch on 10 October on the Sky Digital platform.
