Eyeheight adds multidefinition support to evolutionDT
With television broadcasters worldwide gearing for 1080i high-definition and 720p medium-definition transmission, Eyeheight has added multi-definition compatability to its evolutionDT product platform.
The first Eyeheight products to be produced in multiDef will be the company's range of safe-area generators and legalisers. PAL, NTSC, 1080i and 720p signal formats are automatically sensed at the evolutionDT input and correspondingly processed.
Eyeheight Managing Director Martin Moore explained the background to this strategy: "Broadcasters worldwide are advancing from SD to HD broadcasting. In the long term, they may all settle on a common 1080i-based standard. Before that happens, programme-makers, broadcasters and archivists will all be working in a multi-definition business based on 525i, 625i, 720p and 1080i content delivery. The inherent versatility of the evolutionDT platform enables our customers to be format-independent while retaining the inherent reliability, operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the Eyeheight product range. MultiDef is the future.
