Multi-definition and post production equipment in demand

Eyeheight has reported increasing demand for multi-definition production and post-production equipment among broadcasters and programme producers attending IBC2006.
Eyeheight Managing Director Martin Moore commented: "The transition from SD to HD is well under way in many European countries but that certainly doesn't mean SD is in decline. Broadcasting via the internet and via cellphone networks as well as the natural inertia of the established SD terrestrial networks will make multi-definition compatibility essential for many years to come. We anticipated this transition in demand when we introduced the evolutionDT platform at NAB2005 as the basis for an expanding range of modular products designed to work in 525, 625, 720p/50, 1080i and 1080p.
"We also noted strong interest at IBC in Ethernet-interfaced module control. Demonstrated as an enhancement to our range of colour correctors, it allows all facilities and control menus to be operated from a PC via one-to-one connection, local network or remote internet access. The Ethernet control interface is available as an option for canalettoSDi (standard-definition), canalettoHDi (high-definition) or canalettoMDi (multi-definition). The ability to send broadcast channel idents via the internet was recognised as a major benefit of this system."
Eyeheight's evolutionDT platform provides a basis for highly compact products that are equally suited to standalone, networked or fully automated applications in studio, OB or desktop systems. Three SD, HD or multidefinition SDI inputs are provided plus two independent SD, HD or multidefinition outputs and optional analogue reference.
Dual AES inputs and outputs are also incorporated. A PS-2 keyboard can be connected directly to the evolutionDT platform, enabling advanced user-interface control. Up to 5 Mbytes of memory can be accommodated to store user-specific data. Three versions of the 1U-high chassis are available to match specific applications: full-panel width 19 inch rack-mounting with local control panel, half-panel width with local control panel, and half-panel width without panel.
A world-leading innovator in the design of multiformat broadcast equipment, Eyeheight manufactures and sells serial digital video and digital audio products for use in transmission, digital edit suites, telecine, graphics, studios, dubbing and associated areas. All Eyeheight systems are based on a standard modular platform for easy connection to other products in the range and to external automation. Eyeheight is active worldwide.
