NRK installs technology from Pro-Bel
Pro-Bel has announced that Norwegian state-owned broadcaster NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) has purchased and installed a wide range of technology from Pro-Bel in a sale overseen by the company’s Norwegian dealer Video 4.
NRK, based in Oslo, has completed the installation of four Sirius routers, Procion control software, an Aurora router control system plus two TX500 master control units. Two of the Sirius routers are 128 x 128, one equipped for SD routing, the other for AES and stereo analogue audio, two are being used as SD mixer input routers.
The technology was used for the first time on-air at the end of July.
NRK wanted to replace key parts of its continuity control facility to pull together its two channels – NRK 1 and NRK 2 – prior to transmission.
According to Svein Tore Løvseth with Video 4, NRK selected Pro-Bel technology following in-depth demonstrations as well as a visit to the BBC where a similar installation is in place. Kaare Fagerli, Continuity Manager with NRK, added: “After having seen a demonstration at last year’s IBC, viewed it working at the BBC and had the equipment on test in Oslo, the decision had to be Pro-Bel technology.”
Graham Pitman, Pro-Bel’s CEO, concluded: “We are particularly pleased to be working with NRK on this important project and delighted that it is another sales success for Video 4. We are experiencing considerable sales success in Scandinavia due to the quality and strength of our relationship with Video 4.”
