BBC announces appointment of Head of Television News

Helen Boaden, BBC's Director of News, today announced that Peter Horrocks has been appointed to the role of Head of Television News.
Horrocks, currently Head of Current Affairs, succeeds Roger Mosey who recently moved to his new role of Director of Sport.
Commenting on the appointment, Boaden said: "Peter has a superb track record in television journalism. He also has a deep understanding of the television audience and the competitive pressures we face as technology offers our audiences more choice of news than ever before."
BBC Director of Television Jana Bennett said: "Peter has led a period of great creativity and innovation in current affairs across all BBC channels bringing audiences programmes such as The Power of Nightmares, Panorama: A Question of Leadership and increased foreign coverage with This World.
"He will bring his passion and commitment for fresh journalism to TV news, from the bulletins to Newsnight and News 24, at a time when audiences are seeking the best most trusted news."
Horrocks said: "I am privileged to be taking on the leadership of the most respected TV news operation in the world.
"At a time of tumultuous global events, the role of the BBC in giving all audiences clarity and understanding is paramount.
