Aspex sets the pace at IBC 2005

Aspex Semiconductor, a UK-based semiconductor company developing leading-edge software programmable extreme processors, will launch a new open standard Application Programming Interface (API), OpenRL, at IBC 2005. OpenRL allows developers of high-performance image processing applications to take advantage of plug-in hardware accelerators without needing to understand the underlying accelerator. This reduces their time to market, and reduces risk and development costs.
Developed in conjunction with Imagineer Systems, OpenRL is a platform-independent API. It is targeted at developers of image processing software in the broadcast, video and film post-production markets, and can be used for developing any high-performance image processing application.
For designers wishing to develop image processing applications around the new OpenRL API, Aspex offers an OpenRL Development Kit to provide a quick start environment for software developers.
