CCG TAKE OVER ONE OF GRAMPIAN’S STUDIOS
COMATAIDH Craolaidh Gaidhlig, (Gaelic Broadcasting Committee), have taken over the lease of a television studio in Stornoway formerly operated by Grampian Television.
The building is owned by the local authority Comhairle nan Eilean Siar and has been operated by Grampian Television since 1993.
John Angus MacKay, Director of CCG said: “We hope through time to see this studio fully operational once again, providing programmes for analogue schedules and also moving into digital programme production as Gaelic television develops.”
CCG will be inviting bids from producers for a new magazine show that will be produced from the studio and broadcast on Tuesdays later this year.
Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Alex MacDonald, said: “I am pleased that CCG have taken over the lease of the building and that they will shortly be asking for bids for a new Gaelic magazine programme. There has been a void since the Telefios output was cut and the Comhairle will work with CCG and other organisations to revitalize the Gaelic broadcasting industry in the Western Isles.”
It is anticipated that other programmes will be produced in the studio once the facility is up and running. (GB)
