BBC CREATE NEW CHANNEL EXECUTIVE POSTS

THE BBC have created two new roles to aid in the co-ordination and channel development of BBC One and BBC Two.
The new posts of Channel Executives have been created to aid the Controllers of BBC One and BBC Two in co-ordinating projects from the various genres throughout the BBC. Charlotte Ashton former BBC Head of Press has been appointed as Channel Executive for BBC Two and Anne Gilchrist, the BBC Children’s Head of Development, has been appointed to BBC One.
As Channel Executives they will be working with the Controllers to ensure channel development and co-ordination of projects from various genres and new projects in the future.
Ashton said: “The role of Channel Executives is make the channel the best it can be. It is not about commissioning programmes it is to develop the channels and co-ordinating projects from different genres.”
Their overall remit will be to aid in the development of channels by managing cross-departmental or cross-genre themes and special projects. Gilchrist will report to BBC One Controller Lorraine Heggessey and Ashton will report to BBC Two Controller Jane Root
Ashton has taken up her post immediately and Gilchrist’s appointment will commence in one month’s time. (CMcL)
