FID to showcase high quality drama & factual titles at DISCOP 2005

Fremantle International Distribution (FID), the distribution arm of global production outfit FremantleMedia, will bring the best in factual and drama to DISCOP 2005 in Budapest this June, including Impossible Pictures’ fascinating documentary 'The Story of 1' and Sally Head Production’s suspense-filled drama 'Fingersmith'.
Lavish period drama Fingersmith is the latest addition to FID’s world-class drama catalogue. Starring Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake, Bright Young Things), Fingersmith (2x90’) is a Peter Ransley adaptation of the Booker-nominated novel by Sarah Waters, the same author of controversial novel and BBC drama, 'Tipping the Velvet'. Gracing an all-star line-up, which includes Charles Dance (Gosford Park, Henry VIII), Rupert Evans (North & South, Sons & Lovers), Sally Hawkins (Layer Cake, Vera Drake) and Elaine Cassidy (The Lost World, The Others), Fingersmith launched on the UK’s BBC 1 this spring.
The Story of 1 (1x60’) is a highly original and utterly compelling documentary special, created for BBC1 in the UK, about the origins and importance of the number ‘one’. The Story of 1 is hosted by writer/actor/director Terry Jones who, although best known for his Monty Python roles, has also written and presented documentaries such as 'Medieval Lives' and 'The Crusades'. In The Story of 1 Jones takes the viewer on a fascinating and enlightening mystery tour through history to reveal how the discovery of numbers has enabled every human creation throughout time and, ultimately, the evolution of the human race. The Story of 1 is produced by Impossible Pictures, award-winning producers of the 'Walking With …' series.
