BBC ONLINE PURCHASE FLIPFACTORY SOFTWARE

BBC News Online, the largest online news provider in Europe, have purchased Telestream's FlipFactory software to automate the process of encoding and delivering news content to the BBC Online web site.
Telestreams UK distributors, Boxer Systems Ltd., based in London's Soho district, supplied FlipFactory to BBC News Online and will provide ongoing local support.
FlipFactory automatically re-formats media into virtually any file format and data rate, and then delivers the files to distribution servers. Used in conjunction with a Telestream ClipMail Pro digitising appliance, the entire process of digitising content, creating streaming media files, and delivery to web sites, becomes a ‘single click process’.
When the software is deployed following initial testing, FlipFactory will dramatically improve the efficiency of encoding the high volume of news content published by the BBC every day, and will allow BBC News to publish even more content online. FlipFactory was first shown to BBC News at its launch in December, where its potential to streamline one of the major bottlenecks in the streaming media production chain was immediately recognised.

FlipFactory, which automates repurposing of television content for the web, is the latest in a series of Telestream products which continue to demonstrate the company's commitment to the broadcast community.
