AVID|DS VERSION 4.0 DEMONSTRATED AT PRODUCTION SHOW

AVID have exhibited Avid|DS Version 4.0 at the Production Show 2001, where the system was praised for its performance, feature improvements and time-saving capabilities.
This major release contains more than 3,000 new enhancements and increased interoperability with other Avid systems. Additionally, an optional new remote processing capability is now available for use with Avid|DS Version 4.0 systems.
Michael Stojda, Avid|DS Director of Product Management, said: “Remote processing systems enable users to continue working while computationally intensive tasks are being processed in the background, avoiding interruptions to the creative process. This feature also allows companies to generate additional revenue from their Avid|DS systems by enabling them to work on multiple projects simultaneously.”
Designers say Version 4.0 offers expanded interoperability with other Avid and third party systems thereby increasing the range and throughput of projects finished on Avid|DS systems. It provides the ability to read uncompressed media from Meridien hardware-based Avid Xpress, Media Composer and Symphony systems and the ability for faster, more effective conforming with OMFi compositions and support for OMF audio for tighter integration with the Digidesign Pro Tools system.
Additional capabilities of Version 4.0 include extended workgroup support, the ability to automatically outsource effects to third party applications, share media across projects and import sequences and clips from remote machine.
This latest release of DS also offers support for Softimage|XSI software on the same system. (GB)
