GRANADA RENEW NORTH WEST ITV LICENCE

GRANADA Television have confirmed that they will apply to renew their ITV licence for the North West of England for a further ten years from April 2001.
The decision follows the ITC’s announcement of the financial terms for the renewal of the regional licence, which Granada have held since 1956.
Managing Director of Granada Television, Brenda Smith, said: "We are delighted that we will be renewing Granada’s licence next month. The next licence period will take Granada up to and beyond their 50th year of serving viewers in the North West - a record in the region of which we are very proud.
"Over the last licence period, we’ve moved beyond ITV into new markets – producing for other channels, for digital television and for new media. We’ve also struck some innovative business partnerships, like our recently launched 3sixtymedia facilities business with the BBC.
"But all of this business and investment is built on the foundation of the regional ITV licence we are now set to renew. The successful renewal is a tribute to the hard work and success of all Granada’s staff in regional and network production and broadcasting." (CD)
