THE DERBY IS BACK ON BBC TV

BBC Sport have confirmed that the Vodaphone Derby will return to BBC One this year after 22 years.
The Epsom classic on June 9, will be featured on television, radio and online by the Corporation.
In an interim agreement between the BBC and Epsom, the Derby meeting, which also features the Oaks, transfers from Channel 4 to the BBC. Future screenings of the classic will await the outcome of the current overall negotiations for racing coverage involving the Go Racing consortium.

We are confident that this is the start of a long term relationship with Epsom and we look forward to working together to maximise the profile of one of the world’s greatest sporting events. BBC Sport is about big live events like the Grand National, the Davis Cup and the Masters golf – all featured this weekend on BBC radio, television and online. No other broadcaster offers such breadth and depth of coverage to sport.”
It will be the first time that the Derby has featured in the BBC’s flagship weekend sports programme ‘Grandstand’ since the race was moved from Wednesday to Saturday a few years ago. (CD)
