New Chair of RTÉ Audience Council named
RTÉ’s Audience Council, established in late 2003 to meet at least four times annually, has elected as Chair the Reverend Dr Alan McCormack, a Church of Ireland minister and the Chaplain of Trinity College Dublin. He was educated at Oxford and at Yale.
As the nominee of the Irish Council of Churches, Dr McCormack has been a member of the RTÉ Audience Council since its inception and he is also the Secretary of the Church of Ireland's Broadcasting Committee and a member of the Churches' Media Council, which is based in London.
A native of Belfast, Dr McCormack is keenly interested in cinema, music and the theatre.
Dr McCormack replaces Derek Cunningham, a nominee of the Irish Farmers Association, who was the first Chair of the Council and who completed his one-year term of office in December 2004.
