Channel 4 and Belfast City Council join forces

Channel 4’s IDEASFACTORY Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council have joined forces to launch a series of free masterclasses in Belfast for 16 to 34-year-olds wishing to understand and enter the creative industries.
The seven masterclasses will cover music video production, video game production, radio production, digital media, graphic design and illustration, TV presenting, journalism and fashion.
Two masterclasses - in Fashion and Music and Film & Video Documentary making – will take place in March; Fashion on Monday 20 March - as part of the launch of Fashion Week Belfast - and Music, Film & Video Documentary making on Wednesday 29 March as part of the Belfast Film Festival.
The Music Documentary Film & Video Making Masterclass will be offering key tips on the commissioning and producing processes. The guest speakers will include Ari Magnussen, the director of 'Screaming Masterpiece', Neil McCallum, Commissioning Editor of 'T4 Youth & Music', Channel 4 Television, Bronagh Keegan, Director of Pink Light Productions and co-founder of '4 Minute Wonders', the music video production scheme, and Blair Young, Director of Forest of Black Productions, who have produced music videos for the likes of 'Belle & Sebastian', 'Franz Ferdinand' and 'Teenage Fanclub'.
The Fashion Masterclass will bring together top industry talent including Clive Reeve, Formal Design Manager, Oasis Stores, Heather Sproat, Freelance Designer (Louis Vuitton / Christian Dior / Drakes), Doreen Adusei MBE, fashion entrepreneur (Hennes / Harvey Nichols / Liberty) and Janet Coulter, Fashion Lecturer for New Designers, University of Ulster, will offer advice, expertise and insider knowledge from their countless years of experience working within this highly competitive sector.
Both masterclasses will combine seminars on specific roles, paths to jobs and funding options, with an open forum to discuss the future of the specific industry, insider tips and the opportunities created by new technology.
