Steve Morrison appointed chair of North West Vision

Steve Morrison, the former Chief Executive of Granada plc, has been appointed as the chair of North West Vision, the body responsible for developing film and television in the region.
Mr Morrison has been widely praised for his role as the key driving force behind Granada's years of transition from a North West regional television station to Europe's largest commercial programme producer and the largest broadcaster in ITV.
Mr Morrison said: "I am delighted to become chair of North West Vision, an organisation which serves the most prolific film and television producing region outside London.
"I spent 28 years at Granada and thoroughly enjoyed nurturing new talent. I believe that the film and television industry in Britain can be sustained and enhanced if it nurtures that talent properly."
North West Vision Chief Executive, Alice Morrison, added: "We are delighted to welcome Steve Morrison as our new chair. His high-level experience of both television and film can only enhance our profile and hugely aid our development work."
North West Vision have their official launch on January 16 at The Lowry, Salford Quays.
Mr Morrison will address the region's most important television, film and media figures and will announce which of the region's film projects are to receive major new development funding worth £250,000.
At the event, some of the biggest names in television and media are participating in a 'how to' programme of seminars, masterclassses, workshops and debates for television producers and film-makers.
Steve Morrison ended his career at Granada after his position was perceived to be under threat when details of merger talks between Granada and ITV counterpart Carlton showed that there was no place for him in the enlarged group.
