MTV3 CHOOSES OMNIBUS SOLUTION FOR NEW UPGRADE

LOUGHBOROUGH based OmniBus Systems have been selected to complete an end-to-end automation solution for Finnish national commercial television channel, MTV3.
The deal, which was unveiled at NAB 2001, is the second major Finnish win for OmniBus following their installation at YLE which went on air earlier this year.
At MTV3 OmniBus will be responsible for controlling a broad range of the main newsroom's operations from ingest to journalist desktop browsing - provided by their HyBrow application - to full automation of the station's transmission gallery through Columbus, an integrated module within the OmniBus system. Leitch provided the server-based editing facilities.
The OmniBus solution will also integrate with MTV3's existing iNews Newsroom Computer System through the MOS (Media Object Server) Protocol.
Once fully installed, the OmniBus station automation equipment will be used to control the transmission of twenty news bulletins per day as well as MTV3's regular morning show ‘Good Morning Finland’ and a broad range of other financial and sports news programmes.
The installation is expected to begin in the late summer with the upgraded news operation scheduled to go to air in autumn 2001 in time for MTV3 News’ 20th anniversary. (GB)
