Tern Television wins three new commissions
Award-winning Scotland-based indie Tern Television has won commissions for Discovery Home & Leisure and UK Style, as well as a new commission for BBC Scotland.
'Scrubbers', a 15x30’ production for UK Style, commissioned by Chantal Rutherford-Browne, attempts to clean up the nation’s homes in a de-clutter blitz. In each episode, presenter Michael Holmes and his ‘recovery team’ including co-presenter Jo De Silva, take on the domestic neglect in a family home. From the initial meeting with the families, we see their dilapidated homes, the first steps of the makeover, to the final amazing transformation. The programme also has a psychological edge as the family do away with clutter and learn how not to live. Scrubbers will be produced and directed by Nicky Young and executive producer will be Harry Bell for Tern Television. Delivery is March 2005 for transmission in Spring 2005.
'Tree House Lives', a 5x30’ series for Discovery Home & Leisure, was commissioned by Leonie Hutchinson and Paul Welling and follows the characters, the passions and the specialist skills that lie behind one of the UK’s most successful tree house building companies, Blue Forest, as they build several, very different tree houses over a six month period. The team are larger than life blokes, who share a passion for the great outdoors, DIY and of course living in trees. Tree House Lives will be produced and directed by Julian Kean and executive producer will be Harry Bell for Tern Television. Delivery is September 2005 for transmission later next year.
'Teacher Teacher', a 6x30’ for BBC Scotland, is a brand new observational documentary following a year in the lives of a group of trainee teachers, to be shown on BBC Scotland in 2005. Teacher Teacher will be produced by Pamela Drynan, executive produced by Harry Bell and directed by BAFTA award-winning David Peat. The series was commission by Ewan Angus at BBC Scotland and is due for delivery in September 2005 for transmission later next year.
Tern Television's Creative Director, Harry Bell, said: “One of the things Tern does best is to bring contemporary issues alive on screen through the people that live and breathe them. Following another successful year and our recent Bafta, these commissions continue our expansion into the digital channels and build our relationships with Discovery Home & Leisure, UK Style and BBC Scotland.”
