CHANNEL 5 AGREE COLUMBIA TRISTAR DEAL
CHANNEL 5 have agreed a multi million pound film deal with Columbia TriStar International which will see the studio's 2000 slate of hit feature films including Oscar winning ‘Erin Brockovich’.
The deal is 5's biggest acquisition agreement with Columbia TriStar and covers network TV film premieres, recent blockbusters and acclaimed mini series. As well as ‘Erin Brockovich’, starring Oscar winner Julia Roberts, premiere titles include: ‘Charlies' Angels’; ‘Snatch’; ‘The Patriot’; ‘Hollow Man’; ‘The 6th Day’ and ‘Vertical Limit’.
Channel 5 Chief Executive, Dawn Airey, said: "This is a great coup for the Channel coming so soon after securing the first terrestrial broadcast rights to Gladiator. These deals mean 5 will continue to be the leading terrestrial channel for blockbuster premieres".
Jeff Ford, 5's Controller of Acquisitions, said: "This deal will give 5 many of the hottest movie hits of the past year, demonstrating the Channel's commitment to bringing viewers Hollywood's best." (CD)
