CinemaNet Europe documentary network launched

Docspace Chairperson Amy Hardie has described CinemaNet Europe, the recently launched pan-European documentary network, as "The most exciting venture to hit the world of documentaries since Grierson was a lad."
The network, set up to develop new audiences for documentaries and benefit filmmakers, brings together 200 cinemas from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Slovakia.
CinemaNet Europe launched in the UK with a screening of Jeremy Gilley's film ‘Peace One Day’ in eleven screens including the GFT, Filmhouse, DCA and The Belmont, and at film societies in Findhorn, Drumnadrochit, Carlops and the Isle of Hoy.
The launch featured eight other films, including the world premiere of the Werner Herzog documentary ‘The White Diamond’ and the Emmy award winning ‘Nicholas Winton - Power of Good’.
