REYNOLDS APPOINTED HEAD OF BBC HERITAGE

BBC Secretary, Simon Milner, has announced that Robin Reynolds has been appointed Head of BBC Heritage.
He succeeds Tim Orchard who took up the post in a temporary capacity for the first part of this year following the sudden death of Justin Philips at Christmas.
Reynolds joined the BBC in 1984 and has been editor of the BBC's award winning weekly staff newspaper Ariel for the last 15 years. Most recently he has been seconded to write the BBC's Annual Report 2000/2001.
The Head of Heritage is responsible for ensuring that key aspects of the BBC's past history are recorded and preserved in writing, pictures and through artefacts, so that the BBC and others can learn from the past. He has responsibility for overseeing the detailed written history of the BBC. Dr Jean Seaton of Westminster University has begun work on volume six of the history covering the period 1975-1987.
The postholder reports to Milner and is a member of the senior management team within the Secretary's office.
Reynolds said: "The BBC have a great British success story. I look forward to helping ensure that their many great achievements are properly recorded and lessons from their past are shared."
Milner said: "Robin Reynolds' appointment as Head of Heritage brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the BBC to the role. He has a unique insight into the organisation and the way it has developed over the years. He also has some terrific ideas for taking BBC Heritage forward." (CD)
